SAHITYA AKADEMI AWARD , 2023
The news: Five from Assam get Sahitya Akademi Award. Here is the list of them-
a) Rothindranath Goswami : He is selected for Bal Sahitya Award. He get the award for novel Powalmoni Aaru Chichingar Duhxahaxik Abhijan in Assamese language.
b) Mainaosri Daimary : Mainaosri Daimary get Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for poetry "Som , Jiu , Arw ...." in Bodo language .
c) Jintu Gitartha : Jintu Gitartha get Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for the collection of short stories- "Mon Mora Tora " .
d) Naina Adhikari : Naina Adhikari won Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for poetry " Ghat Pratighatka Udgarharu" in the Nepali language.
e) Pratima Nandi Narzary : Pratima Nandi Narzary is selected for Bal Sahitya award for her collection of short stories titled " Gosaini Gwjwn Nwjwr " in Bodo language.
About Sahitya Akademi Award :
Sahitya Akademi , India's National Academy of letters was inaugurated in 1954 to Pramote literature in 24 languages of India. It organises programmes, confers awards and fallowships on writers in Indian languages and publishes books throughout the year in 24 recognised languages. Under the ministry of culture, it is an autonomous body. It works for the development of Indian Letters and to set high literary standards, foster and coordinate literary activities in the country.
Academy awards are most prestigious literary awards in India. Sahitya akademi Award carries the prize money of rupees 1 lakh and a citation.
Bal Sahitya Puraskar carries the prize money of rupees 50,000 and citation. This award is given to outstanding contributions to children's literature in 24 languages.
The Yuva Puraskar carries the prize money of rupees 50,000 and citation. This award is given to outstanding contributions to young Indian writers in 24 languages.
