Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated Chintan Shivir 2026 – A National Conclave on Highway Infrastructure at Ekta Nagar, Narmada District, Gujarat, on 5 October 2026.


The two-day national conclave is being organised around the theme:


“Gatishakti se Pragati”


The discussions focus on strengthening India's highway infrastructure through integrated planning, technology, sustainability and improved project implementation.

3. First International Cargo Voyage from Dibrugarh to Bangladesh


One of the most important current affairs for Assam and Northeast India is the launch of the first international cargo voyage from Dibrugarh.


Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the cargo voyage from the Bogibeel Inland Water Transport Terminal in Dibrugarh.


The cargo consists of methanol produced by Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited (APCL) and is being transported to Pangaon Port near Dhaka, Bangladesh.

4. Project VeerAI: Indigenous AI Vision System-on-Chip


The Technology Development Board (TDB) has entered into an agreement with Bengaluru-based BigEndian Semiconductors to support the development of Project VeerAI.


The project focuses on developing an indigenous camera-focused AI Vision System-on-Chip (SoC).


Financial Support


TDB support: ₹130 crore


Total project cost: ₹260 crore


Target technology readiness: TRL-5 to TRL-9



The project is supported under the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund.
