1. Special Campaign 6: Preparatory Phase Underway
The Government of India is conducting the preparatory phase of Special Campaign 6 from 16 September to 30 September 2026. The implementation phase will be conducted from 2 October to 31 October 2026.
The campaign is being coordinated by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). It focuses on Swachhata, disposal of pending matters, management of records, e-waste disposal, waste-to-wealth initiatives and improving office spaces.
As of 26 September, more than 84 Ministries/Departments, their PSUs and field offices have participated in preparatory activities.

2. India Reaffirms Commitment to Global Pandemic Preparedness
India reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening global pandemic prevention, preparedness and response at a UN High-Level Meeting in New York.
Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava highlighted the importance of resilient health systems, laboratory networks, emergency coordination, health workforce and medical stockpiles.
She also stressed equitable access to vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics under the WHO Pandemic Agreement and emphasised the importance of the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) system.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, India supplied 300 million vaccine doses to around 100 countries and two UN entities and provided medical assistance to more than 150 countries.

3. Five New Popular Science Magazines Launched in Indian Languages
On the occasion of the 85th Foundation Day of CSIR, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched five popular science magazines published by CSIR-NIScPR.
The magazines have been launched in Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.
The Assamese magazine is titled “বিজ্ঞান লহৰ (Bigyan Lahar)”.
The initiative aims to make scientific knowledge accessible to people in different Indian languages. AI-assisted translation is being used, followed by human review, proofreading and fact-checking.

Bigyan Lahar is particularly important because it is a new Assamese-language science communication magazine.

4. Vice-President Calls for Greater Cooperation Among Global South Nations
Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan called for stronger strategic cooperation among countries of the Global South to address emerging security and developmental challenges.

5. India Raises Concern Over Attacks on Commercial Shipping

He was addressing the inaugural meeting of the Group of Friends on Safety and Security of Shipping and Seafarers during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

7. India International Water Week 2026

12. India’s Mountaineering Achievement in Ladakh
A team from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), Dirang, successfully summited 20 previously unclimbed peaks above 6,000 metres in Ladakh in just 23 days.
The expedition covered areas including Chamser-Lungser, Gyama Nala and Chokula in the Ladakh Range.
