1. Birth of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel :


➤Sardar Vallabbhai Patel was born on 31 October , 1875 in Gujrat.


➤He was a Minister of Home, Information and Broadcasting in the Interim Government. 


He was a Lawyer and leader of Bardoli peasant satyagraha. 


➤He Played a decisive role in the integration of the Indian princely states. 


➤ Later he became the  Deputy Prime Minister.


 Vallabbhai Patel received Bharat Ratna Award in 1991.


  He is popularly known as 'iron man of India '.



2. World Cities Day :


➤The World Cities Day was first started in 31 October , 2014.


 The United Nations General Assembly designated 31 October as World Cities Day.

 It aimed at -

a) promote the international community's interest in global urbanization , and

b) push forward cooperation among countries in meeting opportunities and addressing challenges of urbanization , and in contributing to sustainable urban development around the world.


➤Therefore , the basic aim of the World Cities Day is to promote sustainable development in urban areas.



3. Formation of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as Union Territory :


On 31 October , 2019, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was re - organised as Union Territory . According to the Jammu and Kahmir Reorganisation act , 2019 , these two provision were created.

Now, Jammu & Kashmir has the territory of 42, 241 square km, and Ladakh has the territory of 59,146 square km.
